The National American Arab Journalists
Association (NAAJA) held its 6th
successful journalism conference in
Dearborn which brought out many of the
community’s journalists, communicators,
writers, activists and organizations.
Under the title “American Arab
Journalism:10 years after September 11”
the conference focused on strengthening
the role in educating the American
public and the Arab world. During the
program, brief remarks were made by
Congressman John Dingell, Congressman
John Conyers, Robert Ficano, Wayne
County Executive; and John O’Reilly,
Mayor of Dearborn about the successes of
this event and others happening around
the region. Some prominent community
organizations that attended include the
Iraqi Human Rights Network (IHRN) and
the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination
Committee (ADC). Along with the program,
Nafeh Abunab, photographer, added a
touch of color and brightness to the
whole event by displaying his photos for
everyone to view. The program was
wrapped up by Laila Alhusinni, NAAJA
Dearborn Coordinator, thanking everyone
for their support and continuous efforts
in making this conference and other
events a huge success.
