The Goals of the Network

Said Al-Waely (Founder)tahayati.com
Said Alwaely, founder of the Iraqi Human Rights Network, was born on 1953 in Iraq. In 1991, after the revolution against the dictator Saddam Hussein, he fled Iraq to Saudi Arabia and lived in a camp with other escapers for about a year. Later, he came to the United States of America as a political refugee. He worked hard to make a living and support his family.
After the war in 2003, Said went back to Iraq and was shocked to see the damage that was done. The streets that he once lived in were nothing but rubble and the life casualties were horrific. Many people were living in unlivable conditions, suffering from disease and hunger. He returned to America devastated and hurt to see what his homeland has gone through. He began to write poetry and articles about Iraq as a way to express his thoughts. Soon he was putting together ideas of how to help his country and its people. Through hard work and dedication, he founded the Iraqi Human Rights Network in 2007 and was able to take the organization a step further near the end of 2008, when it was exempted from Federal income tax under section 501(c) (3). The Iraqi Human Rights Network is now a non-profit organization dedicated to helping and supporting Iraqis who are living in hardship around the world.

She not only taught her students basic school subjects, but she also taught them to be successful students in life. She was very encouraging and became a motherly figure for many. Today, she lives in America hoping to return one day to the country she grew up in and teach children once again.
