Immigrant Citizenship Project

Many of today’s wars and political conflicts have caused people to flee their homelands. A record 11.4 million people were driven from their home countries last year alone, and another 26 million were displaced within their own countries. Iraq is the leading country of origin for oversea refugees. Today, approximately four million Iraqis are living outside the country. Adding to the thousands, this year almost 14,000 refugees have gravitated to Detroit, home to America's largest Arab population as well as a sizable Iraqi Christian or Chaldean community. Coming here to the U.S., Iraqis must learn to speak English and earn citizenship in order to become active members of this society. This can be done by conducting English language and citizenship classes to educate the adults in the midst of the growing population of refugees. Donations are needed for classrooms, instructors and other materials for teaching.

Student Scholarship

Educating our future generation is an important yet highly difficult task. Many immigrant students here in the U.S. are financially struggling to pay college tuition and other expenses. This places a limit on their abilities to become educated and successful community members. This project aims to give scholarships to qualified Iraqi and Arab needy students and provide them with the necessary resources to help better reach their educational goals and career paths. This can be achieved through donations and collaborative fundraising and charity events. Help us ease the tuition burden from our future society-contributing intellectuals.

Gave a Child the Greatest Gift of All: Clean Water

The lack of clean water is undervalued in today’s developed world. However, did you know that unsafe drinking water kills more people per year than AIDS and cancer combined? Children are the ones who suffer the most because of their fragile immune systems. More than 4000 children die every day because they simply do not have access to an adequate supply of clean water. A petite gift of $50 is enough to provide two families with a refillable 18-cup PUR Water Dispenser and will supply safe drinking water for a whole year. This is the greatest gift to the many families who lost children due to water-borne diseases.

The Children Relief Fund

Throughout life, children are always the main concern of a family. The young children of Iraq, like all children, need care, love, and support in order for them to live productive lives. This is especially important if they are ill or have disabilities. Unfortunately, there are millions of children in Iraq with severe diseases and disabilities living in harsh living circumstances. Many do not have access to the medical treatment  they desperately need. Not to mention the love and support to make them strong fighters. The Children Relief Fund was established to ease the pains and lift the spirits of young sick children by helping them with their medical needs and even bringing them to the United States for the medical care that is unavailable in their homeland. Donate to this great cause and help a child in need.

Blankets for Warmth

Although it does not snow in Iraq, the winter days are still bitter cold. Without proper clothing and shoes, many of Iraq’s children become sick. Even worse, without blankets and heating supplies some young children become vulnerable to diseases and die. This is because an estimated 5 million Iraqis have become refugees in their own country, forced to move and leave everything behind. Living in small tents, most of their needs are not met. This makes a warm blanket for a child to cuddle in unavailable to many. Help us bring warmth to the children of Iraq by donating to the IHRN.

Dress the Poor

In Iraq there are thousands of young children dressed in worn-out clothes and walking barefoot in the street. Many are orphans and others have parents who simply cannot afford to buy their kids new clothes and shoes. So, even during holiday seasons, the children are left in old rags and broken hearts. They are the forgotten children of Iraq. Help us remember them and bring smiles to their innocent faces by donating to this great cause so we can make this year a new start for them.
