Filtered water

There is a water crisis in Iraq and water supplies are short. Adding to that, most of the water is unfiltered and impure. Yet some families are forced to drink the unfiltered water even though it could be dangerous to them. This project is aimed to providing the Iraqi people with filters so that they could filter their water and drink fresh clean water.

Filtered Water Project

Importance of this project
The Filtered water project is very important because there is a water crisis in Iraq and water supplies are short. Adding to that, most of the water is unfiltered and impure. Yet millions of families are forced to drink the unfiltered water though it could be dangerous to them and their health. Many catch diseases from various contaminations and bacteria and die as a result of drinking that water. This project puts the spotlight on this great crisis where the aim is to provide the Iraqi people with filters so that they can filter their water and drink fresh, clean water instead.

Aims and objectives of this project
There are many aims and objectives to this project. One of the most important aims is that this project contributes to the overall health of the Iraqi people. It will lesson some of the dangerous bacteria and contaminations that are found in unfiltered water, therefore lessoning some of the diseases that can easily be avoided. It will also put a stop to the continuous spread of diseases like typhoid, dysentery, and cholera which can be sever and fatal. The water that most people drink is from small lakes and rivers, containing bacteria and other Micro-organisms that come from a variety of places such as animal wastes, garbage and dead animals or fish. In fact the water is so bad in some areas that even the fish are dying. This makes fish, an important component of the Iraqi diet unavailable to many.

Breakdown of how this project will happen
When we receive enough funds for this project, we will start to buy the filters and the materials that go with the filters. Then we will go to Iraq and locate the exact areas where people desperately need filters (usually it's the small areas that are outside of the city). We will then bring the people together as a group and hold a seminar dedicated to water filtration. We will talk about some of the dangerous bacteria and the diseases that they hold and demonstrate in front of them how to use the filters to clean their water. We will also show them other methods to clean their water so that it's safe to drink. Of course we will videotape the seminar and the discussions that will happen and upload them on the website. Afterwards we will continue to follow the families that have received water filters so that we can keep track of their progress and determine the successfulness of this project.

How will objectives of this project be achieved
Our objectives will be achieved when we help the Iraqi people drink clean, fresh water that is filtered and free from bacteria, contaminations and other micro-organisms. As human beings they are entitled to drink water that is safe and will not cause them disease or harm. When we put a stop to some of those preventable diseases and eliminate them from there spreading, then we have succeeded. In addition to that we will be educating the Iraqi public and showing them a better way to drink water that is safe for them. This will spark enlightenment to the fact that a person's health is important and there are many steps to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
